Caregiver's Requirements
Foreign live-in Caregivers must meet certain Citizenship and Immigration Canada criteria before being admitted to Canada. These criteria reflect the education, language and skill level necessary for the foreign worker's successful integration into the Canadian labour market:

Successful completion of the equivalent of a Canadian high school education. |

Six months of full-time training or 12 months of experience in a field or occupation related to the job you are offering. For example, the training or experience may be in early childhood education, geriatric care, paediatric nursing or first aid. |

Ability to speak, read and understand either English or French. The Caregiver must be able to function independently in a home setting. |
 Employment Authorization
Once the Employer's 'Offer of Employment' has been validated by Service Canada and sent to the visa office in the Caregiver's current country, you will receive a copy of it in the mail.
Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) is responsible for determining whether a foreign Caregiver is eligible to come to Canada under the Live-in Caregiver Program.
A fee of $ 150.00 Dollars will have to be paid by the Caregiver for the processing of her application when it's submitted.
Successful Applicants receive an Employment Authorization, allowing them to work in Canada as live-in Caregivers. After two years of employment, which must be completed within three years of the Caregiver's arrival in Canada, program participants can apply in Canada to become permanent residents. They may be granted permanent resident status provided they meet certain requirements.
